What To Recycle

Single Stream & RecycleBank: Making recycling easier and more rewarding, our partnership with RecycleBank allows single stream recycling - no more sorting! All recyclables, including glass, can be combined in one container, we pickup your recycling and divide it once it reaches the plant...and you earn points for coupons that can be redeemed at local and online businesses!

Our residential and commercial recycling programs are in compliance with the landfill bans enacted by the City of Sioux Falls.

Note: Placing items that are not recyclable in your container can negatively affect your RecycleBank.

The following items are not allowed in the landfills and MUST be recycled:

• Corrugated Cardboard
• Newspaper (including ads)
• Magazines
• Junk Mail/office paper
  (PUT SHREDDED PAPER IN CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS)
• Chipboard (cereal boxes)
• Plastic bottles, jugs, tubs, and containers NO larger than a 5 gallon bucket. NO metal parts or handles.
• Aluminum beverage cans
• Tin/Steel cans (aerosol cans are ok if contents are completely exhausted)
• Clean aluminum foil and trays
• Plastic grocery bags and trash bags (minus the trash of course)
• Glass BOTTLES AND JARS*
• Electronics
• Appliances

* While glass containers are not banned from the landfill, they can now be placed in the recycling containers with the rest of the recyclables.

• Tyvek or nylon envelopes
• Styrofoam
• Wax paper
• Paper plates
• Photographs
• Plastic silverware
• Tissue paper or paper towels
• Straws
• Foil lined paper
• Diapers
• Bright neon colored or heavily colored paper
• Flexible packaging
• Gift wrap
• Cereal bags

• Appliances
• Window glass
• De-humidifiers
• Mirror glass
• Air conditioners
• Shower curtains
• Any trash
• Cups and lids
• Hazardous materials
• Piping
• Food bags (example: potato chip bags, frozen foods)
• Wax milk cartons
• Aseptic containers (example: juice boxes)
