RecycleBank: How it Works

Every household will receive a large 96-gallon, wheeled recycling cart equipped with a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tag. This RFID tag has a unique number that associates each cart with an address. All you need to do is simply place all of your recyclables (no more sorting) in your new cart.

Residents earn a certain amount of points depending on the amount of materials they recycle. Tracked through a RecycleBank scanner retrofitted to the collection trucks, the system converts weight into reward points and then transmits this data to each individual RecycleBank account.

For every pound of recycling collected, 2.5 RecycleBank Points are credited. A resident can earn a maximum of 450 points per month and 5,400 points per year.
