Holiday Pickup Schedule

Garbage, yard waste, and recycling will not be collected on:

  • New Years Eve
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on a weekday (Monday - Friday), residential service will be backed up one day. Example: Thanksgiving lands on a Thursday, so Thursday customers will be picked up on Friday, and Friday customers will be picked up Saturday.

Sioux Falls garbage pickup schedule

Our regular garbage collection service begins at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. Residents of Sioux Falls and the surrounding area should have all materials out for collection by 6 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day. If garbage is not out in time for regular collection, it can either be picked up the following week, or you may request a special pickup (for an additional fee).

Sioux Falls recycling pickup schedule

Recycling is picked up every other week on the same day as trash, beginning at 6 a.m. Monday-Friday. If your recycling container is not out in time for collection, it can either be picked up during the following scheduled collection, or you may request a special pick-up (for an additional fee).

To be ready for pickup day, simply sort all the recyclables from the trash and place the recycling container out with your garbage - visible from the street, but within 5 feet of your house or garage.

Please do not set containers along the sidewalk or curb - it is against the city ordinance.
